Hugh Watson has worked as a hunting guide in our area and he and wife, Barbara, are close friends now. I have a keyboard and guitar in our lobby and it leads to fun things sometimes. Like friends making music together.
2013 Rifle Season - First Saturday
The first weekend of rifle season can be pretty hectic with deer lying all around. Tom and Joshua get them cleaned, tagged and into the cooler in pretty good time.
Learning to make bratwurst.
A good friend (another locker owner) gave us our first lesson in how to mix, stuff, and cut bratwurst. It was a fun afternoon and the brats were great.
Labeling your meat
Your packages are shrink wrapped then labeled then wrapped a second time (next video).
Everything is double wrapped whether beef, hogs, retail meats, or wild game.
100 guage plastic wrap goes through the heat tunnel to shrink fit tightly to your meat. Oxygen is the enemy of frozen meat. The tighter the better.
Gutting a Deer
When gutting a deer you want to open it up as little as possible so that you will get as little dirt in the cavity as possible as you drag it out of the field. Maybe this will help.
Rifle Season
Son, Joshua, and daughter, Joanna are processing deer in our "back" processing room while the rest of the crew work in the main processing room. Freezers are filling up fast. Just turned on the 2nd (new) freezer one week before season started. Really came in handy.
